Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the development of a 1.5 km pedestrian tunnel connecting Patna Museum and Bihar Museum
This project (Package PC-08R) entails the construction of a subway connecting both museums, between Bailey Road and Chajju Bagh, by eight mrts. diameter tunnel boring machine (TBM) at a depth of 16.5 mtrs. The scope of work includes designing and constructing a single tunnel (SUBWAY) between Bihar and Patna Museum by Shield TBM, fire escapes, and ancillary building
The air-conditioned tunnel equipped with battery-operated golf carts will serve as an art gallery. Besides, the entry/exit structures on either side would include a security checkpoint, and goods lift (service elevator). In May 2022, the aforesaid project received approval with an estimated cost of Rs 373 crore
Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD), Government of Bihar, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for its development in January 2023
DMRC first invited bids for its construction work in February 2023 with Rs 296.41 crore estimate and 2.46 year completion deadline. In August 2023, DMRC re-invited bids for construction with a revised estimate of Rs 426.88 crore while keeping the same deadline
